Woodside Drainage Notice of Public Comment Period for CDBG-DR

Notice is hereby given that the City of Kissimmee is offering citizens the opportunity to make comments on the proposed grant application CDBG-DR competitive solicitation issued by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) with funding provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block (CDBG) to address unmet infrastructure needs related to improvements deemed necessary after Hurricane Irma. The Park at Sorrento Apartments is located within the City of Kissimmee, south of Oak Street, and east of Dyer Boulevard. These apartments have had a known history of flooding that begin with the 2004 hurricane season, again in July 2009, and recently in September 2017 (Hurricane Irma). This project will address these flooding issues by reconstructing the drainage system to accommodate the stormwater runoff. During the last Hurricane (Irma), floodwaters entered residences and flooded bathtubs. A design to improve the drainage infrastructure is currently underway. The City is requesting $3,400,000. The program does not require matching funds from the City.

The comment period begins on Friday, June 5, 2020, and ends on Saturday, June 20, 2020. All comments must be submitted to and must be received no later than the close of business on June 20, 2020, to be included with the application package submitted to the State of Florida.
